by Kadir van Lohuizen

Kadir van Lohuizen documented the world of Diamonds from ‘the mines to the jet-set’. In Zaire, Sierra Leone and Angola diamonds were used as a means to buy weapons: Blood Diamonds. Campaigning from groups such as Fatal Transactions led to the Kimberley Agreement in 2002. It made the industry more transparent. ‘Fair Trade’ would be the ideal next step. Diamond Matters shows the financing, working conditions, dealers and those who really profit from the industry.
